Whereas W. W. Smith, a true and loval soldier in the Confeder
my, and member of company F, fifty-seventh regiment, Virgi
lunteers, was wounded in the leg at the battle of Gettysburg, a
ym the effects of which wound he died, but not till after the w

Whereas his widow, Mistress W. W. Smith, of Danville, Virgima
or and in needy circumstances, and is by reason of her hushan
ath, occurring after the war, disbarred from the rehef provided
s for the widows of Confederate soldiers killed during the w
ough he received his death-wound in battle; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That if Mistr
. W. Smith shall produce to the auditor of public accounts a ee
ate of the corporation court of Danville, Virginia, or the ju
ereof, to the truth of the facts set forth above, said auditor of put
counts is hereby authorized and directed to place the name of Mist1
. W. Smith upon the pension rolls, and pay her the sum of fift
llars annually.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
