Chap. 929.—An ACT for the relief of George W. Finney, a Confederate
soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas George W. Finney, who was a Confederate soldier of Vir-
ginia, a member of company “ D,” twenty-fourth Virginia regiment,
and was true and loval to Virginia; and .
Whereas said George W. Finney was wounded in battle near Wil-
liamsburg, Virginia, in eighteen hundred and sixty-two; and
Whereas said George W. Finney is now paralyzed and helpless, and
is also poor and dependent; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
county court of Franklin county shall examine into the condition of
the above-named George W. Finney, a Confederate soldier; and should
it be that he was true and loyal to Virginia through the war, and that
he is now afflicted and incapacitated for manual labor; that he is needy
and poor, and should receive aid from Virginia, and if the county court
of Franklin county should send a certificate of the facts to the audit
of public accounts of Virginia, then the auditor of public accounts
directed to place the name of George W. Finney on the pension li
and pay him annually the sum of thirty dollars on and after the fir
day of April, nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
