Chap. 889.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 957 of the code of Vir-
ginia, in relation to pay of viewers, commissioners, surveyors, and chain
carriers.
Approved March 6, 1900.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
nine hundred and fifty-seven, code of Virginia, be amended and re-
enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 957. Pay of viewers, commissioners, surveyor, and chain carriers.—
A statement in writing, showing the number of days each viewer ap-
pointed under sections nine hundred and forty-five and nine hundred
and forty-seven, each commissioner under section nine hundred and
fifty-one, and every surveyor was employed, shall be sworn to and
presented to the court, and the court may allow to each a reasonable
compensation, not exceeding one dollar per day for each viewer or com-
missioner, except in the county of Rockingham the court may allow
to each a reasonable compensation, not exceeding two dollars per day
for each viewer or commissioner, two dollars and fifty cents per day
tor the surveyor, and two dollars per day for chain carriers, when the
employment of such‘carriers is deemed necessary, to be paid by the
county; and no further allowances shall be made for any survey.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
