Chap. 849.—An ACT for the relief of John J. Hedderly, a wounded Confed-
erate soldier of Halifax county.

Whereas John J. Hedderly, of Halifax county, was a brave and lova
Confederate soldier in company , thirty-fourth Virginia regiment
Wise’s brigade, army of northern Virginia, and by reason of a severt
gunshot wound in the battle along the Howlett line, near Petersburg
in June, eighteen hundred and sixty-four, one arm, because of remova
of the bones of arm, was rendered absolutely Ww orthless for manual labor
and having never asked or accepted aid from the state until being in ¢
condition of want ; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assemblv of Virginia, That on proo:
