Chap. 844.—An ACT in relation to the commitment of minors to the custody of
the prison association and their detention and discharge by said association.
Approved March 6, 1900.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That a minor
may be committed to the custody of the prison association of Virginia,
up to the time such minor shall have attained the age of eighteen years,
but not after; and all commitments of minors to the custody of said
association shall be for an indeterminate period: provided, that no
person committed during minority shall be held or detained by said
association, after attaining the age of twenty-one years: and provided
further that said association shall have the right to discharge any minor
committed to it, at any time when, in the judgment of the proper au-
thorities of said association, such discharge will be to the best interests
of such minor.
2. All acts or parts of acts in conflict with this act are hereby re-
pealed.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
