Chap. 785.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 64 of the code of 1887, in
relation to the election by the general assembly of electoral boards.
Approved March 6, 1900.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
sixty-four of the code of eighteen hundred and eighty-seven be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
8 64. General assembly to elect electoral boards——The general as-
sembly shall, at each regular session, including the present session, pro-
ceed to elect three qualified voters, who shall be residents of the county
or city for which they‘are chosen, to be known as the county or city
electoral board, as the case may be, who shall go into office on the first
day of April succeeding their election, or as soon thereafter as possible.
having first taken and subscribed the usual oaths of office prescribed fo1
city and county officers, and whose term of office shall continue for twc
years, or until their successors are duly elected and qualified. The oath:
prescribed by this section may be taken before any person qualified tc
administer oaths, and when so taken and subscribed shall be filed in the
office of the county, corporation, or hustings court, as the case may be.
provided, that the terms of office of the members of the existing electoral
boards in the various counties and cities of the state shall terminate on
first April, nineteen hundred, or upon the qualification of the mem-
bers of the electoral boards elected by the present session of the gen-
eral assembly.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
