Chap. 769.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 1 of the charter of the
town of Buchanan, in the county of Botetourt, approved March 4, 1898.
Approved March 6, 1900.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
one of an act approved March fourth, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight,
incorporating the towns of Buchanan and Pattonsburg, in the county
of Botctourt, under the name of the town of Buchanan, be, and the
same 18 hereby, amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
owns of Buchanan and Pattonsburg in the county of Botetourt, as the
same have been heretofore laid off into streets and alleys and lots, shall
be, and the same are hereby, made a town corporate to be known as the
town of Buchanan, and by that name shall have and exercise all the
rights, powers, privileges, and immunities conferred upon towns by the
code of Virginia, so far as the provisions of the code are not in conflict
with this act.
Provided, that nothing herein contained shall be construed to embrace
within the corporate limits of said town that particular section of said
town known as the “ Koss addition,” lying along and near to the Lexing-
ton road. And the said section, known as the “ Ross addition,” shall,
upon the passage of this act, cease to be a part of the corporate territory
of said town of Buchanan, and shall revert to and become a part of the
county of Botetourt, subject to all the laws governing said county.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
