Chap. 751.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 6 of an act entitled an
act to provide for the opening and working of roads and keeping the same
in repair and to provide for erecting and maintaining bridges in the county
of Culpeper, approved January 25, 1898.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
six of an act entitled an act to provide for the opening and working
of roads and keeping the same in repair, and to provide for erecting and
maintaining bridges in the county of Culpeper, approved January twenty-
fifth, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, be amended and re-enacted so
as to read as follows:
§ 6. That biennially in the month of May there shall be appointed
by the board of supervisors one commissioner of roads for each magis-
terial district, whose term of office shall be for two years beginning on
the first day of July next succeeding his appointment. He siiall
reside in the district from which he is appointed. Each commis-
sioner of roads thus appointed shall qualify before the judge of the
county court in term or in vacation, and shall at the time of his qualifi-
cation give bond before the said court, or the judge thereof in vacation,
in not less than two thousand dollars nor more than five thousand dol-
lars conditional for the faithful discharge of his duties according to
law; and the board of supervisors shall fill any vacancy that may occur
in said office from death, resignation, or removal, or otherwise by elect-
ing a successor for the unexpired term.
2. All acts or parts of-acts inconsistent with this act are hereby
repealed.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
