Chap. 742.—An ACT to provide for a special appropriation to the South-
western State Hospital.
Approved March 3, 1900.
Whereas it appears from the report of the director of the South-
western state hospital, that for two years past the annual appropriation
has not been sufficient to maintain said hospital in consequence of which
this hospital has been left in debt each year until that indebtedness
now amounts to thirty-seven hundred and eighty dollars; and
Whereas it also appears that the new addition to the hospital remains
unfinished while many insane are left in the counties and jails for want
of room; now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
sum of sixty-three hundred and eighty dollars is hereby appropriated
out of money in the treasury of Virginia not otherwise appropriated
to pay off the said indebtedness of Southwestern state hospital men-
tioned in the foregoing preamble and to finish up at once the said new
addition, and the auditor of public accounts is authorized and ordered
to draw his warrant upon the treasury of this state for said amount of
money in favor of the Southwestern state hospital. to be paid over to
the proper officer of that hospital for the purpose above.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
