Chap. 722.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 5 of chapter 1 of an act
entitled an act to provide a new charter for the town of Graham, in the
county of Tazewell, approved February 29, 1892.
Approved March 3, 1900.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
five of chapter one of an act entitled an act to provide a new charter
for the town of Graham, in the county of Tazewell, approved February
twenty-ninth, eighteen hundred and ninety- -two, be amended and re-
enacted so as to read as follows:
$5. An election of the municipal officers, mentioned in the fourth
section of this act, except the clerk of the council, commissioner of the
evenue, and the sergeant, shall be held on the first Monday in June
ighteen hundred and ninety-two, and on the first Monday in June ir
very second year thereafter. The clerk of the council, the commissione}
f the revenue, and the sergeant shall be appointed by the council, anc
hall hold office during the term of office of said council, and until thei
uccessors are duly appointed and qualified. Said election shall be con.
lucted under the provisions of the general election laws of the state
Vhen two or more councilmen are to be elected, the several persons
f the number required having the highest number of votes shall be
eclared elected.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
