Chap. 713.—An ACT to authorize and empower the board of supervisors of
Culpeper county to issue bonds to raise money for the purpose of providing
for and erecting the necessary buildings for a poorhouse.
Approved March 3, 1900.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
hoard of supervisors of Culpeper county be, and they are hereby, author-
ized and empowered, in their discretion, to issue bonds of the county,
coupon or registered, to an amount not exceeding fifteen thousand dol-
lars, said bonds to be issued in denominations of five hundred and one
thousand dollars, and to run for twenty years, bearing interest at a
rate not exceeding six per centum per annum, interest payable semi-
annually or annually. Said bonds shall be redeemable at any time after
the expiration of ten years, and shall be sold for not less than par. The
bonds authorized to be issued by this act shall be signed by the chairman
ot the board of supervisors, and countersigned by its clerk and under
the official seal of the county. The funds arising from the sale of said
bonds are to be used solely for the purpose of purchasing a farm and
the erection of the necessary buildings to be used as a poor-house for
the poor of said county.
2. The said board of supervisors shall, annually, include in the levy
upon the property and Jawful subjects of taxation in the said countv
as a part of the county levy a sum and tax sufficient to pay the annual
interest on said bonds, and in such manner as they deem best create
a sinking fund sufficient to pay the said bonds at or before maturity.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
