Chap. 688.—An ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Russell county
to increase the pay of the attorney of the commonwealth for the county of
Russell. ,

Approved March 2, 1900.

Whereas the census of the United States now being taken will show
that the population of Russell county is more than twenty thousand
inhabitants, which would fix the annual salary of said attorney at six
nundred dollars at least; and °

Whereas said census returns may not be made in time to authorize the
woard of supervisors to levy six hundred dollars for the ensuing year;
sherefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
board of supervisors of Russcll county be, and they are hereby, author-
ized, in their discretion, to increase the salary of the attorney for the
commonwealth, for the county of Russell, to the sum of six hundred
dollars for the fiscal year ending June the thirticth, nineteen hundred
and one, payable out of the county levy.
