Chap. 686.—An ACT to empower the council of the town of Cape Charles
to borrow money and issue bonds therefor for the purpose of increasing
its water supply and installing a drainage or sewerage system.
Approved March 2, 1900.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
council of the town of Cape Charles, in the county of Northampton, be,
and they are hereby, authofized to borrow for the said town, for the
purpose of increasing its water supply and installing an adequate system
of drainage or sewerage in the said town, a sum of money not exceeding
ten thousand dollars, by the issue and sale of the bonds of the said
town.
2. The said bonds shall be registered and issued in such denomina-
tiong as the said council may determine, and shall bear interest after
a rate not excecding six per centum per annum, payable annually.
The principal of the said bonds shall he payable twenty years after
the date thereof, unless otherwise specified; for which purpose the said
council may upon the face thereof reserve the option and right of re-
deeming the said bonds at any time after the expiration of one year from

their date, upon giving the holder thereof a notice of sixty days of it:
intention so to do, and paying at the time of such redemption the in-
terest thereon after the rate agreed upon, for the current year only. The
said bonds shall be signed by the mayor, and attested by the clerk.

the council may prescribe: provided, however, that they shall not be solc
for less than their nominal or par value.
3. The council of the said town shall have power to make annual appro.
priations out of the revenue of the said town for the payment of interest
upon the said bonds, and providing a sinking fund for the redemption
thereof.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
