Chap. 677.—An ACT to commission officers of cadets of Newport News
military academy.

Approved March 2, 1900.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
governor be, and he is, authorized, in his discretion, upon the recommen-
dation of the faculty, to issue to the officers in charge or command
of the corps or companies of cadets of Newport News military academy.
in the city of Newport News, Virginia, commissions of brevet officers of
engineers in the volunteer service of the commonwealth, the said com-
missions to be for two captains, two first lieutenants, and two second
lieutenants: provided, that the said commissions shall not entitle the
said officers to any pay or emoluments, or any command or authority
except stich as may be exercised over the cadets of the said institution
by direction of the faculty.

2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
