Chap. 661.—An ACT to authorize the Big Stone Gap fron company to build
branch railroads not exceeding twenty miles in length in the counties of
Lee, Scott, and Wise.
Approved February 27, 1900.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
Big Stone Gap iron company, a corporation organized and existing
under the laws of the state of Kentucky, which has duly complied with
the requirements of the statutes authorizing it to transact business in
Virginia, be, and it is hereby, authorized and empowered to build
branch railroads not exceeding twenty miles in length, of such gauge
as it may adopt from any lands owned or leased by it in the counties of
Wise, Lee, and Scott, to any point or points on the Louisville and
Nashville railroad, the Virginia and southwestern railroad, the Norfolk
and western railway, or any other railroad that may be hereafter con-
structed in or through the counties of Wise, Lee, or Scott, and for that
purpose shall have and exercise all the rights, powers, and privileges
conferred upon any company incorporated for a work of internal im-
provement by chapter forty-six of the code of Virginia, and shall be
subject to all the duties and obligations imposed upon such companies
by said chapter.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
