Chap. 626.—An ACT for the relief of Caroline Pool and her sureties from the
payment of fines imposed by a justice of the peace of Grayson county, and
confirmed by the county court of said county, for selling spirituous liquors
without a state license so to do.
Approved March 6, 1900.
Whereas one Caroline Pool was tried and convicted before W. F.
Pool, a justice of the peace of Grayson county, Virginia, in the year
eighteen hundred and ninety-seven of retailing spirituous lquors with-
out having a state license so to do, in two cases, and was fined one hun-
dred dollars and costs in each case, amounting in the aggregate to two
hundred and forty-eight dollars and thirty-four cents; and
Whereas she has exhausted all her means in endeavoring to pay said
fine, and after having paid the sum of fifty-four dollars and eighty-seven
cents is totally unable to make further payment; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
said Caroline Pool be, and she is hereby, relieved as are her sureties from
the payment of the said fines and costs as set forth in the preamble
to this act.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
