Chap. 596.—An ACT to protect the interest of the state in the Richmond,
Fredericksburg and Potomac railroad company and to prevent the con-
struction of a line of railroad from Richmond to the Potomac river until
the interest of the State in the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac
railroad company is disposed of.
Approved March 32, 1900.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That it shall
not be lawful for any railroad company doing business in this state or
any railroad company chartered or incorporated under the laws of this
state to construct a line of railroad or any part or section of a line of
railroad between the city of Richmond, Virginia, and the Potomac
river at or near Washington, District of Columbia, until the interest
of the state of Virginia in the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac
railroad company has been sold by the state.
2. All acts or parts of acts in conflict with this act are hereby re-
pealed.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
