Chap. 583.—An ACT to prescribe a fence law for Cedarville district, in the
~ county of Warren.
Approved March 6, 1900.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That within
the limits of all that portion of Cedarville magisterial district, in the
county of Warren, west of the Shenandoah river, the boundary lines of
each lot or tract of land in said limits shall be deemed and are hereby
declared and constituted lawful fences.
2. It shall not be lawful for the owner or any person having in charge
any horse, cow, mule, sheep, goat, or neat cattle of any description to
permit said aniuuais to irespass upon the lands of another in that por-
tion of said district embraced in this act.
3. If any of the animals named in the foregoing section be hereafter
found trespassing upon the lands of any person in said district, whether
the said lands be surrounded by a lawful fence other than the boundary
thereof, as above prescribed, or not, the owner or person having in
charge said animals shall be liable for ev ery such trespass to the owner
or occupier of said lands for any damage caused by such trespass, to be
recovered as is provided in section two thousand and forty-two of the
code of eighteen hundred and eighty-seven, as amended by the acts
of eighteen hundred and ninety-seven and eighteen hundred and ninety-
eicht, page five hundred and twenty-four.
4. Nothing in this act shall be construed so as to repeal chapter
three hundred and twenty-nine, page three hundred and sixty-eight, of
acts of eighteen hundred and ninety- -seven and eighteen hundred and
minety -eight, relating to hogs.
