Chap. 579.—An ACT to authorize the Washington, Alexandria and Mount
Vernon railway company to dispose of its surplus electric power by sale,
lease, or otherwise.
Approved March 6, 1900.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
Washington, Alexandria and Mount Vernon railway company be, and it
is hereby, authorized to dispose of such part of its electric power as at
any time may not be needed or employed in the operation of its railway,
by sale, lease, or otherwise, to corporations or natural persons, and to
that end to make all such contracts as it may deem proper and neces-
sary. But provided that the said company shall not by sale, lease, or
otherwise dispose of any electric power within the city of Alexandria
without the consent of the common council of said city.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
