Chap. 566.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 420 of the code of Vir-
ginia, as amended by an act approved February 12, 1894, in relation to the
use by the commissioners of the sinking fund of any surplus money in the
treasury in the purchase of bonds:of the State, issued under the acts of
February 14, 1882, and February 20, 1892.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
four hundred and twenty of the code of Virginia, as amended and
re-enacted by an act entitled “an act to amend and re-enact sections
four hundred and twenty and four hundred and twenty-one of the
code of Virginia,” approved February twelfth, eighteen hundred and
aa be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
420. Any money in the treasury to the credit of the sinking fund,
and any money which may be derived from the sale of any stocks and
securities now held in the treasury of Virginia, shall annually, or as
often as occasion mav require, be applied by the commissioners to the
purchase, at market rates (not, however, exceeding the par value), of
bonds issued under the act of February fourteenth, eighteen hundred
and eighty-two, or under the act of February twentieth, eighteen hun-
dred and ninety-two.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
