Chap. 473.—An ACT to refund to W. C. Andrews $150 erroneously paid into
the treasury.
Approved February 21, 1900.
Whereas by an act of assembly approved March fifth, eighteen hun-
dred and ninety-four, a charter of incorporation was granted W. C.
Andrews and others under the name of the Virginia transit company ;
and
Whereas on the ninth day of June, eighteen hundred and ninety-four,
the said W. C. Andrews, on behalf of said Virginia transit company,
through Cardwell and Cardwell, his attorneys, paid into the treasury
through the office of the auditor of public accounts the sum of one
hundred and fifty dollars, being the amount required by law to be paid
as the tax on said charter; and
Whereas it appears that under the law then in force, the said charter
became void by reason of the said sum of one hundred and fifty dollars
not having been paid into the treasury within ninety days from the
approval of the said act of assembly; and
Whereas by act approved March fifth, eighteen hundred and ninety-
six, said charter was enacted in the same words, and the said W. C.
Andrews, in accordance with the law, then paid into the treasury the
sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, being the tax on said second
charter; and
Whereas the said W. C. Andrews is therefore entitled to have said sum
of money paid on the first named charter returned to him; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
auditor of public accounts be, and is hereby, authorized and directed
to draw his warrant on the treasurer, to be paid out of any monevs not
otherwise appropriated, in favor of Cardwell and Cardwell, attorneys
for W. C. Andrews, for the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, being
the said sum so erroneously paid into the treasury.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
