Chap. 466.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 11 of an act entitled an
act to create the board of fisheries, define its duties, and fix the salaries of
its members, approved February 7, 1898.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
eleven of an act entitled “an act to create the boards of fisheries, define
its duties, and fix the salary of its members,” approved February seventh,
eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, be amended and re-enacted so as to
read as follows: .
§ 11. The board shall have authority to supply ammunition, provisions,
and fuel necessary for the use of the steamers, vessels, and their crews,
either by direct purchase or by letting the same, when practicable, to
the lowest bidder after due advertisement. And shall also have authority
to dismiss captains or other employees on said steamers or vessels, and
appoint others in their stead; and shall license such armament and ordi-
nary repairs to be made to vessels, machinery, and furniture as may be
necessary to keep them in serviceable condition, and see that the steamers
and vessels in their appointments are at all times kept clean, and other-
wise in good serviceable condition. And said board shall have authority
to sell or exchange any steamer or vessel belonging to said police fleet,
and if sold to reinvest the proceeds of such sale or make further ex-
changes as may appear to them necessary and best for the interests of the
state: provided, that no additional expense shall be incurred to the com-
monwealth by reason of such sale, exchange, or reinvestment without
authority of the general assembly.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
