Chap. 42.—An ACT to permit George F. Parramore to build a bridge across
King’s creek, in the county of Northampton.
Approved January 11, 1900.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That it shall be
lawful for George F. Parramore, or his assigns, to erect, construct, and
maintain a toll-bridge across King’s creek, in the county of Northampton,
commencing at or near the site of his wharf on his land, and ending on
the land of the heirs of William L. Scott: and for that purpose he is
hereby authorized to lease, purchase, or condemn, in the mode prescribed
by law, a lot of ground, not exceeding an acre. for the erection of a toll-
house, and so much land as may be necessary for the construction of said
bridge and a convenient passway over the same: provided, however, that
said bridge shall be constructed with a draw at least eighteen feet long,
to avoid obstruction to navigation of said creek.
2. That it shall be lawful for said George F. Parramore, as soon as
the said bridge shall be completed and offered for transportation and
travel. to collect reasonable tolls; and he shall keep posted at each end
of said bridge a schedule of rates.
3. All laws now in force regulating foll-brnlges 1 in Virginia shall aids
to this act.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
