Chap. 412.—An ACT to validate the purchase by the board of supervisors of
Frederick county of a lot in the city of Winchester, and to declare the
uses therein.
Approved February 20, 1900.
Whereas by the compromise between the city of Winchester and the
county of Frederick of their respective rights in the public square
situated in Winchester a certain sum of money was paid by the city to
the county, and was by the order of the board of supervisors of said
county invested in the purchase of that certain lot, situated in the city
of Winchester, on the southeast corner of Market and Water strects.
known as the Grim lot, to be used by the people of the said county tor
a hitching yard and for other purposes—
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the pur.
chase of the said lot as aforesaid by the said board of supervisors is
declared good and valid, and the title to said lot is hereby declared tc
be in fee simple in the county of Frederick, and may be used for any
purpose which the board of supervisors of said county or their suc.
cessors shall, in their discretion, deem for the general welfare of the
county.
2. The board of supervisors of said county may at any time, in thei
discretion, make sale of said property or otherwise dispose of the same
and apply the proceeds to the public purposes of the county.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
