Chap. 377.—An ACT to authorize the Jefferson Davis monument association
to transfer and deliver all its funds, assets, and property to the united
daughters of the Confederacy.
Approved February 15, 1900.
Whereas the Jefferson Davis monument association, a corporation,
chartered by the general assembly of Virginia, under an act approved
February seventeenth, eighteen hundred and ninety, having for its
object the erection of a monument to Honorable Jefferson Davis, has
collected certain funds for that purpose; and
Whereas the united daughters of the Confederacy, an association
of patriotic women, has undertaken to collect such other funds as may
be necessary for the purpose, and to erect said monument in accord-
ance with the provisions of the act of the general assembly, incorpor-
ating the Jefferson Davis monument association; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the Jeffer-
son Davis monument association be, and it is hereby, authorized and
empowered to transfer and deliver to John 8S. Ellett, who has been duly
elected as treasurer to receive the same by the united daughters of
the Confederacy, all the money, assets, and property in its possession
or under its control, to be held by the said John S. Ellett, as treasurer of
said association, and expended under the direction of the united daugh-
ters of the Confederacy in the erection of said monument in the city " of
Richmond, and for no other purpose whatsoever.
