deputies of V. B. Gilmer, late treasurer of Russell county, to distrain for
uncollected taxes for the years 1896, 1897, 1898, and 1899.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That A. B.
Dye, James H. Thompson, J. B. Ashbrook, Jonas Rasnake, H. J. Tate,
J. N. Smith, and Thomas D. Fugate, late deputies of V. B. Gilmer, late
treasurer of Russell county, be, and they are hereby, authorized and
empowered to collect, by distress, all the uncollected taxes in their
respective districts for the vears eighteen hundred and ninety-six, eigh-
teen hundred and ninety-seven, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, and
eighteen hundred and ninety-nine, which they have accounted for and
paid over to said county treasurer or to his use and benefit as such
treasurer.

2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
