Chap. 289.—An ACT to authorize the district school board of trustees of
Ashland school district of Hanover county, Virginia, to sell certain land
bought by them and not needed for public-school purposes.

Whereas the Ashland school district board of trustees of Hanover
county, Virginia, purchased from a certain Betsy Hogg, or her heirs, a
lot of land situated near the town of Ashland, containing three acres,
more or less, and erected thereon a schoolhouse; and
Whereas owing to the inconvenience of said location, said schoolhouse
has been removed and rebuilt upon other lands purchased by said board,
and the said three acres of land, more or less, are not now needed for
public school purposes, and it is desired that the same be sold; there-
fore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the Ash-
land district school board of trustees of Ilanover ‘county, Virgima, he
and they are hereby, authorized and empowered to sell and convey the
said three acres of Jand, be the same more or less, above referred to,
at public or private sale, and devote the proceeds of sale in such manner
as in their judgment is best adapted for the public schools of said dis-
trict.
This act shall be in force from its passage.
