Chap. 267.—An ACT authorizing J. T. Houchins, surety for J.
ex-deputy treasurer of Patrick county, to levy and distrain for t
of certain uncollected taxes and levies assessed in Smith’s rive
said county, for the years of 1895, 1896, and 1897.

Whereas J. T. Houchins, one of the sureties for J. A.
deputy treasurer for Smith’s river district, in Patrick count
compelled to pay to the treasurer of said county a consider
surety for said J. A. Adams; and
Whereas all the uncollected tax tickets held by the said J
have been surrendered to the said J. T. Houchins, who is
deputy treasurer for said district, to reimburse him for th
as aforesaid; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
Hfouchins, the present deputy treasurer of Patrick county
for J. A. Adams, ex-deputy treasurer for said county be
hereby, given the same power to levy and distrain as is [|
treasurers under the revenue laws, to collect. all taxes and le‘
in Smith’s river district of said county for the years of eight
and ninety-five, eighteen hundred and ninety-six and eicht¢
and ninetv-seven, which have not been collected or returnec
or insolvent, and for which the then treasurer has settled wit
of supervisors and auditor of public accounts. The right to
taxes and levies by levy or distress shall continue for one ye
passage of this act.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
