Chap. 216.—An ACT to prescribe the time for holding the circuit court for
the eighth judicial circuit, and to regulate the compensation of the judge
thereof.
Approved January 30, 1900.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the cireuit
courts of the several counties and corporations of the eighth judicial cir-
cuit shall be held at the following times in each vear: The county of
Charles City, on the second Tuesday in March and September: the county
of New Kent, on the third Tuesdav in Mav and November; the county
of Warwick, on the third Tuesday in March and September; the city of
Newport News, on the fourth Tuesday in March, the fourth Tuesday in
May, the fourth Tuesday in July, the fourth Tuesday in September, the
fourth Tuesday in November, and the fourth Tuesday in January; the
county of Accomac on the first Tuesday in April and October; the county
of Northampton, on the third Tuesday in April and October; the county
of York, on the fourth Tuesday in April and October; the county of
James City and city of Williamsburg, on the first Tuesday in May and
‘ovember, and the county of Elizabeth City, on the second Tuesday ix
fay and November.
2. The council of the city of Newport News is authorized to increase
ne salary of the circuit judge of said city, such increase not to exceed
ne thousand dollars per annum, to be paid out of the treasury of the
aid city quarterly upon a warrant of said judge. The amount of said
crease may be reduced by said council in its discretion: provided, that
ach reduction shall not take effect until after the expiration of the
-rm of office of the said judge.
3. All acts and parts of acts in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
