Chap. 1481.—An ACT for the relief of Samuel Waldron.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Samuel Waldron served in the late war in the Confederate
army as a private from the county of Franklin; and
Whereas while in service in said war he was severely wounded in
battle by a piece of shell which lodged near his spine and was at other
times otherwise wounded; and
Whereas these wounds have seriously and permanently impaired his
ability to support himself by manual labor; and
Whereas he is now poor, needy, and without property; and
Whereas in addition to the injuries received in battle he had both
of his legs broken in eighteen hundred and ninety-nine by a tree falling
upon him, which accident has left him badly injured; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
county court of Franklin county shall inquire into the above recitals,
and if it certifies that from the evidence submitted it is satisfied that
the said recitals are facts and that this is a deserving case for a pension,
and shall give the nature and character of the said Waldron’s disa-
bilities then upon this certificate the auditor of public accounts, if he
is also satisfied that this is a deserving case, is directed to list the said
Waldron, from the county aforesaid, to receive an annual pension of
fifteen dollars per year.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
