Chap. 1472.—An ACT for the relief of J. T. Pearman, a disabled Confederate
soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas J. T. Pearman, a disabled Confederate soldier of company
D, fifty-ninth Virginia regiment, Wise’s brigade, was a true and gallant
soldier during the whole war, was loyal to Virginia; and
Whereas he is now suffering with rheumatism, contracted during
the war, and is incapacitated for manual labor and without means of
support; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
corporation or hustings court of the city of Manchester, Virginia, shall
examine into the condition of the above-named J. T. Pearman, a Con-
federate soldier, and should it be that he was true and loyal to Virginia
through the war, and he is now afflicted and helpless from disease
as stated above, and incapacitated for manual labor, and that he is
needy and poor, and if the court above named should send a certificate
of the facts to the auditor of public accounts of Virginia, then the
auditor of public accounts is directed to place the name of J. T. Pear-
man on the pension list and pay him annually the sum of fifteen dollars,
on and after the first day of April, nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
