Chap. 1421.—An ACT for the relief of Sarah J. Miller, widow of a deceased
Confederate soldier.

Whereas William S. Miller, of the county of Bedford, enlisted in the
Confederate states army in March, eighteen hundred and sixty-two,
and rendered service in said army till his death, in October of the year
aforesaid; and
Whereas the said William S. Miller left a widow, Sarah J. Miller,
who has not since his death remarried, and who is now in dependent
circumstances and has no means of livelihood, and has never applied
for a pension; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
auditor of public accounts be, and he is hereby, authorized and di-
rected to place the name of Sarah J. Miller on the roll of the widows
of deceased Confederate soldiers, and to issue his warrant for the sum
of fifteen dollars annually for her benefit: provided, the above-named
allegations be proved before the county court of Bedford, and certifi-
cate of same be sent to the auditor of public accounts. ;
2. This act shall be in force on and after April first, nineteen hun-
dred.
