Chap. 1418.—An ACT for the relief of James E. Brown, a disabled Confed-
erate soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas James FE. Brown, a disabled Confederate soldier, is suffering
from injury sustained in war, and was a true and gallant soldicr during
the war, and was loyal to Virginia; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the county
court of Augusta shall examine into the condition of the above-named
James E. Brown, a Confederate soldier, and should it be found that he
was true and loyal to Virginia through the war, and that he is now
affiicted and disabled, and incapacitated for manual labor hy reason
of injury, disease, or old age, that he is needy and poor, and should re-
ceive aid from Virginia, and if the county court of Augusta shall send
a certificate of the fact to the auditor of public accounts in Virginia.
then the auditor of public accounts is directed to place the name of
James E. Brown on the pension list, and pay him annually the sum
of fifteen dollars, on and after the first day of April, nineteen hun-
dred.
