Chap. 1397.—An ACT for the relief of Mrs. Sally Muse, widow of a Confe
erate soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas W. S. Muse, of King George county, was a brave and galla
Confederate soldier in company H, fifth Virginia cavalry; and
Whereas the said W. S. Muse is now dead, and leaves a widow, Sal
Muse, with two children, aged respectively, at the present time, twel
and five years; and
Whereas Mistress Muse is in indigent circumstances, has no incom
and is dependent largely upon the charity of her neighbors for t!
means of feeding herself and children; and
Whereas she is also nearly blind, and thereby incapacitated f
sewing and other domestic duties; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virrinia, That t
said Sally Muse, widow of W. S. Muse, a Confederate soldier, shall
permitted to prove, before the county court of King George, the abo
facts, or any other material fact bv the hest evidence obtainable; a
upon such proof being adduced before said court, the said court sh:
certify the same to the auditor of public accounts, who is hereby a
thorized and directed to place the name of Sally Muse upon the pensi
rolls of the state, and to draw her warrant annually, in due form
law, in favor of said Sally Muse for the payment of a pension of fifte
dollars per annum.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
