Chap. 1359.—An ACT for the relief of R. H. Lewis, a disabled Confederate
soldier.

Whereas R. If. Lewis, of Gloucester county, was a true and faithful
Confederate soldier; was loval to Virginia in the war between the states,
is now disabled to do manual labor because of age, infirmity, and disease,
is poor and needy, and is deserving of aid from Virginia; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That if the
county court of Gloucester county shall inquire into the condition of
said R. H. Lewis, and it appears that the facts are as hereinbefore al-
leged and that he is deserving of aid from Virginia; and if said court
shall certify the facts to the auditor of public accounts, thereupon said
auditor is hereby authorized and directed to place the name of the said
Rt. H. Lewis, as so certified, on the pension list and pay him an-
nually the sum of fifteen dollars on and after the first day of April,
nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
