Chap. 1348.—An ACT for the relief of Benjamin Harrison.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Benjamin Harrison, a disabled Confederate soldier of com-
pany H, sixth Virginia regiment, was a true and gallant soldier during
the war between the states, was loyal to Virginia; and
Whereas he is now suffering from the following disabilities—to wit:
Rheumatism and other ailments, Bright’s disease, and dropsy, caused
by and contracted during the war, and is an old man in destitute cir-
cumstances; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
county court of Fauquier shall examine into the condition of the said
Benjamin Harrison, a Confederate soldier, and should it be that he
was true and loyal to Virginia through the war, that he is now afflicted,
and disabled and incapacitated for manual labor, by reason of injuries
and diseases contracted in and caused by his service during the war
and that he is needy and poor, and should receive aid from Virginia
and if the county court of Fauquier should send a certificate of the
facts to the auditor of public accounts of Virginia, then the auditui
of public accounts of Virginia is directed to place the name of Ben.
jamin Harrison on the pension list, and pay him annually the sum o!
fifteen dollars per year for his disabilities on and after April first, nine-
teen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
