Chap. 1342.—An ACT for the relief of Hodges Shackleford, a disabled Confed-
erate soldier.

Whereas Hodges Shackleford, of the county of Mathews, was a true
and faithful Confederate soldier, was loyal to Virginia during the war
between the states, is now disabled to do manual labor because o
disease and affliction, is poor and needy, and is deserving of aid fro:
Virginia; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the gencral assembly of Virginia, That if th
county court of Mathews county shall examine into the condition o
said Hodges Shackleford, and it appears that the facts are as herein
before alleged, and that said Hodves Shackleford is deserving of ai
from Virginia; and if said court shall send a certificate of said fact
to the auditor of public accounts, thereupon the said auditor is hereb
authorized and directed to place the name of said Hodges Shacklefor
on the pension list, and pay him annually the sum of fifteen dollar
on and after the first day of April, nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
