Chap. 1312.—An ACT to place Linzy Yates on the pension list.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Linzy Yates, a disabled Confederate soldier of company
G, Captain M. S. Ratliff, was a true and gallant soldier during the late
war; was loyal to Virginia during the said war and is still loyal to his
state; and
Whereas he is now suffering from a wounded hip, received by being
thrown from his horse in battle at Rheatown, Tennessee, resulting
almost in the loss of the use of one leg; and
Whereas the said soldier has no property or income of any kind;
therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
county court of Buchanan county shall examine into the condition
of the above-named Linzy Yates, a Confedcrate soldier, and should it he
found that he was true and loyal to Virginia through the war, and that
he is now afflicted and incapacitated from manual labor, that he is
needy and poor, the county court of said Buchanan county shall send
a certificate of these facts to the auditor of public accounts of Virginia,
then the auditor of public accounts is directed to place the name of the
said Linzy Yates on the pension list and pay him annually the sum of
fifteen dollars.
