Chap. 1305.—An ACT for the relief of J. N. Shaver, a Confederate soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas John N. Shaver, a Confederate soldier in the second Vir-
cinia cavalry company, was a true and gallant soldier during the late
war; was loyal to Virginia; and
Whereas he has lost almost the entire use of his left arm, caused by
a wound received in the left shoulder bone, splitting it in three places,
and is still suffering from said wound; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
county court of Botetourt shall examine into the condition of the
above-named John N. Shaver, a Confederate soldier, and should it be
that he was true and loyal to Virginia through the war, that he is
now incapacitated for manual labor and should receive aid from Vir-
ginia, and if the county court of Botetourt should send a certificate of
the facts to the auditor of public accounts of Virginia, then the auditor
of public accounts is directed to place the name of John N. Shaver on
the pension list, and pay him annually the sum of fifteen dollars on and
after the first day of April, nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
