Chap. 1295.—An ACT for the relief of Emily Thompson, widow of a deceased
Confederate soldier.

Whereas John W. Thompson, of the county of Giles, served in the
late war as a member of company FE, fourth Virginia regiment, and
was a faithful and valiant soldier; and
Whereas he has died. leaving a widow who is now living, but is old,
feeble. and penniless: therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That Emily
Thompson, widow of the aforesaid John W. Thompson, shall be placed
upon the pension rolls of this state to receive a pension of fifteen dollars
per year: provided, that the county court of the said county shall have
certified to the auditor of public accounts that the foregoing recitals
are true. Upon the receipt of such certificate the said auditor is
directed to place the name of the said Emily Thompson on the pension
roll, and pay her a pension of fifteen dollars per annum.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
