Chap. 1284.—An ACT for the relief of Mrs. Margaret Tuck, a widow of a
Confederate soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Captain R. H. Tuck was a true and gallant Confederate
soldier in the war between the states, commanding company K, third
Virginia infantry, and was severely wounded at the battle of Gettvs-
burg: and
Whereas the said Captain R. H. Tuck sinee the war has been a good
and useful citizen to the state up to the time of his recent death: and
Whereas his widow, Mistress Margaret Tuck, now residing in Halifax
county, Virginia. has been left destitute bv the death of the said Captain
R. H. Tuck. and is poor and needy, without the means of making a
support, and is dependent upon her friends or the public for a support;
therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
said Mistress Margaret Tuck be permitted to prove before the county
court of Halifax county the facts stated above, or any other material
facts by the best evidence obtainable, and upon such proof being
adduced before the said court, said court shall certify the same to the
auditor of public accounts, who is hereby authorized to place the name
of the said Mistress Margaret Tuck upon the pension rolls of the state,
and to draw his warrant annually in due form of law in favor of the
said Mistress Margaret Tuck for the payment of a pension of fifteen
dollars per annum.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
