Chap. 1283.—An ACT for the relief of Rebecca Greiner, widow of a Confed-
erate soldier.
Approved Murch 7, 1900.
Whereas David Greiner, a member of company G, fifth regiment of
Virginia infantry, Stonewall brigade, was a true and brave soldier
during the war between the states, and was loval to Virginia, and to the
Confederate states, and always performed his duty, though of feeble
constitution; and
Whereas the said David Greiner has departed this life since the war,
leaving a widow over seventy-five vears old; and
Whereas his widow, Mistress Rebecca Greiner, of Augusta county,
Virginia, is poor and in needy circumstances, and on account of her
age is unable to provide herself with the necessities of life, and is bv
reason of her hushand’s death, occurring after the war, debarred from
the relief provided by law for the widows of Confederate soldiers; there-
fore,
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That if Mistress
Rebecca Greiner shall produce to the auditor of public accounts of
Virginia a certificate of the county court of Augusta county, to the
truth of the facts sct forth above, the auditor of public accounts is
hereby authorized and directed to place the name of Mistress Rebecca
Greiner upon the pension rolls and pay her the sum of fifteen dollars
annually.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
