Chap. 1277.—An ACT for the relief of Parks Snead, a Confederate soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Parks Snead, who was a member of company H, fifty-sixth
infantry, Pickett’s division, was wounded in hand at Hatcher’s
run so as to practically render manual labor impossible, and was also
wounded in leg in same battle; and
Whereas said Snead was a true and gallant soldier, and loyal to Vir-
ginia; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
county court of Augusta county shall examine into condition of the
above-named Parks Snead, and should it be found that the allegations
above are true, and that he is needy and poor and should receive aid
from Virginia, and if the county court of Augusta shall send a certi-
ficate of the fact to the auditor of public accounts in Virginia, then the
auditor is directed to place the name of Parks Snead on the pension
list and pay him annually the sum of fifteen dollars, on and after the
first day of April, nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
