Chap. 1273.—An ACT for the relief of Cannon Stewart, a Confederate soldier,
of Dinwiddie county.

Whereas Cannon Stewart, a Confederate soldier of Dinwiddie county,
was a member of Johnson’s heavy artillerv, was a true and gallant
soldier, serving in the Confederacy three years, coming out of the war
broken in health, poor, and needy; and
Whereas after the lapse of thirty-five vears, he is destitute, and
unable to do manual labor and is an object of charity; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the county
court of Dinwiddie county shall examine into the condition of the
said Cannon Stewart, and should the facts be as above stated, then the
county court of Dinwiddie county shall send a certificate of the facts
to the auditor of public accounts of Virginia, then the auditor is
directed to place the name of Cannon Stewart on the pension roll and
pay him the sum of fifteen dollars, on and after the first of April,
nineteen hundred.
2. ‘This act shall be in force from its passage.
