Chap. 1272.—An ACT for the relief of Sallie Stevenson, widow of Captain
Charles E. Stevenson, deceased, late captain of company A, sixteenth regi-
ment, Virginia cavalry.

Whereas Charles E. Stevenson, deceased, late captain of company A,
sixteenth regiment, Virginia cavalry, was a gallant, loyal Confederate
officer from Russell county, Virginia; and
Whereas the said Captain Stevenson died from the effects of wounds
received in battle in the Confederate service, and in the line of his duty
as such officer, leaving Sallie Stevenson, his surviving widow, who is
old, in very delicate health, without any visible means of support, and
wholly unable to make a support by manual labor or otherwise; there-
fore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
said Sallie Stevenson. widow of Charles E. Stevenson, late captain of
company A, sixteenth regiment of Virginia cavalry, be, and she is
by this act, allowed an annual pension of fifteen dollars; and the auditor
of public accounts is hereby directed to place the name of the said
Sallie Stevenson on the pension roll of the state of Virginia, and pay
her the sum of fifteen dollars annually.
