Chap. 1267.—An ACT for the relief of Jesse T. Newland, a Confederate soldier.

Whereas Jesse T. Newland, of Shenandoah county, was a true and
gallant soldier of Virginia in the militarv service of the Confederate
states, and who is now sixty-eight vears old and has been disabled bv
bodily infirmities to perform any labor of any kind for four years, and
with no prospect of ever being able to perform any labor, and by reason
of his disability is very poor and without means of support; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That upon proof
before the county court of Shenandoah county of the foregoing facts
and the certificate of the same by said court to the auditor of public
accounts, the said auditor shall place the name of the said Jesse T
Newland upon the pension rolls and there shall then be paid to th
said Jesse ‘I’. Newland, annually, the sum of fifteen dollars out of the
treasury of the state, upon the warrant of the auditor of public accounts
on and after April first, nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
