CHAP. 1249.—An ACT for the relief of Fleming T. Whitt, an aged and infirm
Confederate soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Fleming T. Whitt was a gallant soldier during the late war
as a member of company JK, fiftv-fourth Virginia regiment; and
Whereas the said Fleming T. Whitt, who is now seventy-five years
of age, is unable to provide for himself on account of the infirmities of
old age, and is totally unable to perform manual labor; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
county court of Monteomery county shall examine into the condition
of the above-named Fleming T. Whitt, a Confederate soldier; and
should it be shown that he was true and loyal to Virginia through the
war; and that he is incapacitated for manual labor by reason of old
are and infirmities; and that he is needy and poor, and should receive
aid from Virginia, and if the county court of Montgomery county
shall send a certificate of the facts to the auditor of public accounts
of Virginia, then the auditor of public accounts is directed to place
the name of Fleming T. Whitt on the pension list, and pay him the
annual sum of fifteen dollars, on and after the first day of April, nine-
teen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
