Chap. 1248.—An ACT for the relief of Mrs. Elizabeth L. Winfree, widow of a
Confederate soldier.

Whereas Barnet Winfree, of Petersburg, Virginia, who was a member
of Pegram’s battery of artillery, Captain R. G. Pegram, was wounded
at. the battle of Plymouth, North Carolina, from the effects of which
wound he always suffered, and subsequently died; and
Whereas said Barnet Winfree left a widow, w ho is poor and dependent
upon her own efforts for a livelihood ; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
auditor of public accounts be, and he is hereby, directed to place the
name of Mistress Elizabeth I. Winfree, the widow of the said Barnet
Winfree, of Petersburg, Virgima, upon the pension list and pay to her
annually the sum of fifteen dollars, upon proof of above facts before
corporation court of Petersburg, Virginia.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
