Chap. 1242.—An ACT for the relief of J. W. Davault, a Confederate soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas J. W. Davault, an old Confederate soldier of company B,
fiftieth Virginia regiment, who has ever been true and loval to the state
of Virginia, and was a true and faithful soldier through the entire
late war between the states, and who followed Stonewall Jackson until
his death; and
Whereas he, during said time, received some injury in his eves, and
has now become totally blind and unable to obtain a support for himself,
and is without land or property of any kind, and is not on the pension
rolls or drawing anvthing from the state or county, and he is a citizen
of Vireinia, and was previous to the war; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That said J.
W. Davault, of Lee county, Virginia, when he shall appear before the
county court of said county and make affidavit to the facts herein stated,
that the clerk of said county court shall furnish the auditor of public
accounts a certificate to that effect, and the said auditor shall place his
name upon the pension rolls of Confederate soldiers at a rate of fifteen
dollars per annum.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
