Chap. 1238.—An ACT for the relief of Mistress T. E. Higgins.

Whereas William F. Higgins, of the county of New Kent, served in the
late war as a member of company H, of the fifth Virginia regiment, and
was a faithful and valiant soldier, and loyal to Virginia; and
Whereas he died September the eleventh, eighteen hundred and ninetv-
six, leaving a widow, Mistress T. FE. Tliggins, who is now living, but is
iid and feeble and in needy circumstances, and penniless; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That Mistress
T. E. Higgins, widow of the aforesaid William F. Higgins, shall be
placed upon the pension roll of this state to receive a pension of fifteen
dollars per year: provided, that the county court of said county shall
have certified to the auditor of public accounts that the foregoing recitals
are true. Upon the receipt of such certificate the said auditor is
directed to place the name of Mistress 'T. Kk. Higgins on the pension
roll and pay her a pension of fifteen dollars per annum.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
